Subconscious Retreats

There’s so much potential for healing and growth when you start exploring the world of psychedelics.

Different substances can help you tackle different problems, whether it’s stress, depression, or something else entirely.

What makes each of these substances so special is that they open up a whole new world to those who discover them.

But not all psychedelics are created equal.

5-MeO-DMT

Some have very specific effects that make them useful in certain situations while limiting their usage in others.

That’s why many people who enjoy experimenting with these substances choose to focus on one type at a time.

There is one primary species of Toad that is used for healing and meditation: Bufo Alvarius or the synthetic version which is 5-MeO-DMT.

Both have very different effects on the human body and mind, but both can be used as catalysts for personal exploration and growth.

What Is Bufo Alvarius & 5-MeO-DMT.

5-MeO-DMT is a naturally occurring entheogen found in various plant species, most notably in the venom of the Bufo alvarius toad.

Bufo alvarius, also known as the Sonoran Desert Toad, Colorado River Toad, Bufo, and El Sapo/Sapito, is found in Northwestern Mexico and various Southern US states.

5-MeO-DMT is related to the classic psychedelic DMT (dimethyltryptamine), and when ingested, it produces an intense experience.

It is typically inhaled (snorted) or smoked as a powder or dried plant material.

Bufo alvarius toad venom includes both 5-MeO-DMT and another psychoactive component known as bufotenin (5-HO-DMT).

Making the Bufo experience distinct from a pure 5-MeO-DMT encounter.

Effects Of Bufo Alvarius 5-MeO-DMT

5-MeO-DMT is a highly effective naturally occurring entheogen. Its effects can be felt within 15 seconds of smoking it, and 5-MeO-DMT creates a strong and occasionally overwhelming psychedelic experience.

Although it lasts approximately a half hour, people experience an overwhelming ego-dissolution that typically leads to a sense of being connected to everything in existence.

Bufo venom contains not only 5 MeO / DMT, but also bufotenin, a chemical homolog to DMT that may also have psychedelic characteristics.

Although there is no solid evidence that bufotenin is psychoactive when smoked, many people believe that smoking Bufo venom offers a more intense experience than taking 5-MeO-DMT alone.

The psychedelic effects of smoking Bufo venom usually last around 15 minutes and fade completely after approximately 40 minutes.

The typical psychedelic “afterglow” may linger a few more hours, and some claim it might last for days or weeks after the trip.

The combined effects of 5-MeO-DMT and bufotenin (together with any other toxins contained in toad venom) can be extremely potent, and when more medicines are added to the mix, the results can be lethal.

For this reason, it is advised to seek out a reputable Shaman or retreat like Subconscious Retreats, to perform this practice insuring that you eliminate the risks!

Bufo 5-MeO-DMT Dosage

The dosage of 5-MeO-DMT can vary depending on the user’s experience level.

For those who have minimal experience with psychedelics, it is recommended that they start with between 5 and 10 milligrams.

People who have moderate experience with psychedelics may benefit from 20 or 30 milligrams.

Those who are very experienced with psychedelics can increase their dosage as high as 100 milligrams.

History Of Bufo Alvarius & 5-MeO-DMT.

Both Bufo Alvarius and 5-MeO-DMT have been used for healing, spiritual exploration, and meditation for thousands of years.

These substances have been used since the time of the Aztecs and Mayans, and they were likely used by Native Americans as well.

Bufo Alvarius was used for healing and spiritual purposes by South American shamans until the early 20th century.

When it was outlawed by the government. 5-MeO / DMT was discovered by Western scientists in the mid-20th century.

It was used as an antidepressant in the 1990s when doctors found that it helped their patients let go of their negative emotions.

The Current Use Of Bufo Alvarius & 5-MeO-DMT

In recent years, the practice of inhalation of bufotoxins from Bufo alvarius has grown in popularity in a variety of underground ceremonial settings, putting a strain on toad populations and long-term sustainability.

In the entheogenic community, a considerable number of Bufo shamans and facilitators have appeared, offering to administer the medicine in ceremonies addressing spiritual or physical difficulties.

In some ceremonial situations, 5-MeO-DMT is consumed as powdered plant material. Some facilitators employ synthetic 5-MeO-DMT.

Bufo has sparked renewed interest in psychedelic research due to the therapeutic and anti-opioid-addiction potential of 5-MeO-DMT.

However, research into the more well-known classic psychedelics is still in its early stages.

What Does a Bufo Ceremony Look Like?

There is no conventional or ‘traditional’ manner of toad medicine ceremony because Bufo alvarius has no history of traditional use.

Most facilitators will incorporate elements of traditional shamanism into their ceremonies, but they are frequently appropriated from a variety of cultures, and it is uncommon for a modern Bufo facilitator to have any form of sanctioned training.

A good Bufo ceremony will prioritize your safety and be overseen by competent specialists who remain sober and can devote their whole attention to you.

You should not be compelled or urged to do anything other than take the Bufo and lie down in a safe and comfortable location until the effects wear off.

Facilitators may occasionally play music, blow smoke, or engage in shamanic practices, but they should not touch you.

Or give you additional substances, or impose suggestions on you while you are tripping.

The legality of Bufo Alvarius and 5-MeO-DMT

However, both the US and the UK have classed 5-MeO-DMT as a Class A/Schedule I chemical. Other countries’ lists of prohibited substances may have included it.
